There has been a growing shift in Christian circles from sound doctrine to a more inclusive stance on things once deemed sin. In just the last 10 yrs, organization like the Christianity Today, The Baptist Press, Liberty University, The Southern Baptist Association and others.
You may be asking, “what things have they shifted from?” Well, over the last decade a more tolerate tone has come about. Acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community, joining the world's MeToo movement, racial injustice, re-examining the creation account and more.
What does the Bible have to say about this? About those who once lived in this world but are now born again.
Many who came to saving faith, came from a variety of backgrounds. In the earlier verses of 1 Corinthians 6 it says,
9 do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
These believers had lives transformed by Christ. They were not accepted into the body of Christ unless they put their old nature to death. Shocking by today's church standards which seeks to allow men and women (while in their sins) participation in the service and ministry.
Christian’s who participate in the sins of this world, those who justify the sins of this world, those who stick up for men and women who engage in sin have left Biblical Sound Doctrine.
Now, what about the verse quoted earlier? Is there hope? The verse is full of hope. It states how many of these believers were rebellious towards God. They loved their sin and when the truth of God’s Word cut through, they repented, believed in Christ and followed Him.
With all that said, where does this leave the above mentioned organizations? Well, unless Biblical change occurs, and unless the leaders of these organizations repent we’ll see it crumble even more.
When men and women of faith stand for truth, and yes, name names (which is biblical) when they get attacked, you know they are on to something.
